I was on my way to work and my cell phone rings, it was Shawn (our boss) looking for Robert. He had me turn around, go back to the house to let Robert know he needed him for some storm work in Northern California.
After I told Robert, I proceeded on my way to work and of course the power company was also on storm work. Teri and I were put on standby until they needed flaggers, in other words we just had to hang out until they needed us. We hung around the office for awhile until they sent us out to set up signs and wait for a crew to show up and fix the lines that were down. We waited and waited, finally our crew shows up, only to tell us to hang tight for at least another hour. They had to go somewhere else and fix a line that was down further up the road that didn't need flaggers, so we waited and waited again. Finally they called and said they were on the way back to where we were, only to get another call a few minutes later to say they were trapped on the other side of a low lying bridge and could not get back across because the water had risen to high and was moving to fast to try and get back across. Another crew was on it's way to fix the still downed line, mind you about 4 hours had passed since we had showed up to fix the downed power line. You guessed it we were told to hang tight again.
Teri and I got tired of waiting so we went to my house and got my camera so we could take some pictures of the guys that had gotten trapped, by this time we were laughing our butts off because it was starting to get ridiculous as to how long we had been out at this one address to fix the wires that were down and reconnect a transformer. Once the guys finally showed up it took only about 1/2 hr to fix the problem. Needless to say we got paid for 8 hrs for a 1/2 hr of work.
I took a couple pictures to show you how fast the water was rushing across the bridge the guys had to come back across, and of course Teri and I had to get in the pictures.
The trucks and the water.

A couple pics of the water.
